LAVC Theater presents URINETOWN The Musical by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann Friday and Saturday March 27 and 28 and Thursday, Friday and Saturday April 2, 3 and 4 in the Horseshoe Theater on the Valley College campus. All performances begin at 7:30pm.
This darkly comic meta-musical tells of a dystopian society in which everyone must pay a tax in order to use the bathroom.
Believe it or not, this is a comedy! At the heart of the story is a naïve young man, Bobby Strong, who decides to fight for freedom, inspired by the equally tender-hearted ingénue, Hope Cladwell. Their innate virtue and goodness lead them to the conclusion that changes must be made. The people have a right to use the restroom without taxation! --Wade Bradford.
URINETOWN The Musical is being directed and choreographed by LAVC professor Cathy Susan Pyles and musical directed by Music Department professor Patricia Hannifan. The designs are by Department of Theatre Arts chairperson Jennifer L. Read and Theatre staff member Mark Svastics.
